You can buy a clown costume from Amazon or design, tailor, and mend it together yourself. There are already many costumes available to purchase, but there is nothing like a one of a kind outfit that is uniquely yours. Sweet Pea’s costume was carefully created and stitched together by hand. Sweet Pea’s outfit was made with love and care by family members.

What is important is that you stay comfortable, dry, and cool. Always consider the conditions you’re performing in. My favorite go to costume is the white-faced rodeo clown. Everybody knows what a rodeo clown looks like, so would shouldn’t be mistaken for a robber. The world’s most recognizable and generic clown is the rodeo clown with the coveralls or suspenders including a neckerchief and cowboy hat.

If you decide you are brave enough to give balloon twisting a try, we have some tips and links for you to get started.

There are three primary types of balloons that dominate the world of balloon art: Latex, Mylar, and Vinyl. These balloons are the finest available, far surpassing regular balloons. To enhance your experience, investing in a balloon pump is essential; you wonโ€™t be able to inflate these balloons as you would with those flimsy round ones because these are much tougher. With a variety of shapes to select from, the long skinny balloons are undoubtedly the top choice! They are much more durable so they won’t break. The boast balloons we use the most of have measurements of two inches in diameter and 60 centimeters in length. We strongly recommend using Qualatex latex 260 balloons or the 160 balloon, which you can conveniently purchase on Amazon and in stores like Party City.

Face paint is made of non-toxic materials. Do not use real paint or watercolors. The paint is made from simple safe ingredients because they are being applied directly to your skin. Face painting is a delightful and safe activity that every adult and child can truly enjoy. No need to hurry to the store for supplies โ€” you can easily create your own face paint using just a few simple ingredients you probably already have at home!

This face paint resembles a clown’s grease paint. Recipe makes one color.[2]

  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 5 tablespoons corn (maize) starch/flour
  • 1 teaspoon flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon petroleum jelly
  • Food coloring

Basic Cornstarch-and-Lotion Paint Recipe

You will need a minimum of three colors. You can elaborate and make a dozen of different colors and use an empty egg carton as your paint pallet or use dixie cups to hold each color.

This face paint is suitable for most occasions. Recipe makes one color.[1]

  • 1 tablespoon of mild body lotion
  • 2 tablespoons of corn (maize) starch/flour
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Food coloring

Party Clowns are Funny

Make em laugh because, clowns are known for their humor. A grand entrance is something to enjoy! Jokes are the top of the list for a monolog and a great segway to the acts beginning. A party clown act is typically 5 to 10 minutes. We reintroduce the party clown later in segments of the show. Clown jokes are to be as corny and clean as possible, so dad jokes are perfect!

How to Cancel a Party: Step-by-Step Guide

It can be the last minute when the party plans cancel, and all hell is about to breaks loose. We can easily work the problem together. You may have never considered what it takes to stop a train once it’s underway. Even several days’ notice is still not enough time for an arrangement that took weeks of preparation. If you booked a venue, hired entertainment, hired a cater, or rented equipment and decorations, you will need a phone and fast! This is how to cancel a party step by step guide,

Communication

It’s important that written communication is your preferred method to confirm party cancellation, either through email or text. The first step is made with a phone call. Yes, it’s going to be difficult to say, but you’ve got to ask your vendors to put a halt on any further prep.

You probably had to pay a deposit for some and paid in full for other services and you will want to know what their cancellation policy is. This is not the biggest issue you have right now. You are aware that penalties for cancellation are part of the process, so move on as quickly as you can. Don’t spend too much time negotiating with each vender. Time is of the essence! Let them know you will be back in contact with them via email or text to confirm the cancellation and negotiate your deposit later. Knowing how to cancel a party is as important as planning one.

Notify your guests

This should be easy, but you find it difficult to notify everyone. Some may have purchased travel tickets, others may have planned days off from work, school, or cancelled plans in order to make it to your celebration. No matter how you do it, do it now! I recommend a personal phone call instead of a group text.

Well, there are two sides to every coin. The policy usually works for the hired party and will benefit them to cover losses they may have already incurred. The obvious loss of revenue is the biggest concern, so businesses plan for this possibility by charging the client a deposit that is paid when signing an agreement or reserving a date for services.

Some vendors will place a high deposit on their services and others are more reasonable. The deposit is the amount of money they intend to make as, profit. Some deposits will be refunded and some will not. They get paid only a fraction of what their services and goods would have provided if the event had gone on as planned.

The show must go on

Consider the thought that you’ve got a crowd of people who know nothing about whatever has prompted this abrupt change in plans. You’ve invested lots of time and money into the party. If you sold ticket to the event you’ve got to reschedule or refund the purchase price of the tickets. I always consider selling tickets at the door instead of ahead of time. If you’re Tailor Swift or a headliner coming to town, you sell tickets ahead of schedule and invest in publicity in order to sell even more tickets. They’ve got the buying power to give back thousands of dollars, you don’t!

Stay away from this strategy if at all possible. If you feel the show must go on, ask yourself why? Throwing the party anyway for no reason other than to avoid humiliation is a waste.

Reflect and take inventory

Let’s face it, party plans cancel. There are penalties to pay and items to return, but it’s okay. Even the best-laid plans can end in disaster. Don’t be too hard on yourself or others! We often shift responsibility to an excuse or find someone to blame, but it is always best to accept responsibility and behave kindly to everyone involved, even if it was out of your control. The caterer, the guest of honor, the venue, the weather, the DJ, the brideโ€”whoever caused this event to come to a halt is already under enough pressure without being blamed or criticized.

Remember, that everything happens for a reason.

How to Host a Senior Talent Show Successfully

We started a karaoke music program in one independent living facility last year. We encouraged residents to come and sing with us. Many chose to just listen and to enjoy watching the other residents sing. Senior Talent Show is often the highlight of the month in many facilities.

A few weeks went by and many more came to sing. The audience grew bigger when we started the talent shows. Some of the residents were in the music industry years ago. A few were professional singers and others were musicians like me. The young man below is 101 years old and performs a Vuadville act that was incredible. Albert can sing and dance!

Senior Talent shows are just one of the activities you can use to promote social wellness. Yes, that phrase pops up here a lot. Whenever you join in a social setting you are in fact learning to get along with others. Working together and even learning to appreciate one another.

My favorite activity is Karaoke! We get a few singers who are regulars at our biweekly karaoke parties. The residents in the facility all come to hear their fellow residents but they come for the sing- a-long. We use a large TV and show the words on the screen for everyone to see.

Neighborhood parties are always a fun way to connect with neighbors who may feel isolated by fences and hedges. Organizing these events helps break the ice and shows how much we have in common. Mobile home parks often have friendly residents who gather to renew friendships. Some residents go north for a while and return when the weather is nicer. Snowbirds come back after the holidays. The community activities committee or Homeowners Association usually hosts a celebration for them. This is often organized as a neighborhood party.

Communities often hold parties, such as block parties, that allow neighbors to connect. An example is when the author and their wife hosted a fall party with their band, candy, and hot cider. These gatherings help meet new neighbors and reminisce with longtime residents. Living in an HOA can lead to noise issues. These issues may cause conflicts. However, being a good neighbor involves respecting others’ peace. It is vital to understand and support each other, especially in tough times. Neighbors can feel like family and form a close-knit community.

Getting to know your neighbors.

Invite your neighbors to your open house, pool party, cook out, or garden party. Ask them to visit with other neighbors at events like wine tasting. Consider hosting a community bake sale or a group picnic party where everyone brings a dish. This way, you can share meals or sample desserts together. If you have many neighbors, invite everyone to a local park for a neighborhood party.

What makes a good neighbor?

Friendship starts with an introduction. I like to bake something and take it to our newest neighbors who move in. A short meet and greet goes a long way toward a lasting friendship. We occasionally take over goodies like fresh baked bread or cookies that just came out of the oven.

I grow fresh vegetables and some strawberries and grapes in my garden. I love to share our harvest. We make fresh tomato sauces from scratch. We also give away potatoes and the green beans we grow. These little visits make for good neighbors.

In our Homeowners Association, we have rules for what you can and can’t do. Not everyone reads the rule book and not everyone is an owner like we are. Some houses are rented with a yearly lease, and we get new tenants to greet every couple of years. Good neighbors bring food and friendship to your door.

Social Casual Neighborhood Parties – Meet and Greet

Occasionally, my wife and I host two of our neighbors. We have a pool party and cookout. Every other month, we will invite the other neighbors across the street. We gather for a bite to eat and share beer or fruity drinks in the summer. In the fall, we enjoy hot cider.

I guess we are the block party residents. We help our neighbors get to know each other better by hosting casual get-togethers, especially a neighborhood party. We share contact information for emergencies and offer what resources we might help with during a disaster. We’ve had tornadoes in our neighborhood and plenty of power outages.

Our generator has served as the only electricity to charge phones and devices from our neighbors. They can enjoy a little air conditioning to escape the high temperatures the summer can bring. Power outages can last days.
